Vocations

My dear parishioners, do these words speak to you ? As a member of the vocations committee, I am looking for your thoughts as they pertain to the cultural barriers to vocations on the part of our young people. Please forward your responses to:: deaconcharlie@comcast.net

Additional Note: As the Elijah continues to makes its prayerful journey throughout our parish community, please consider making room in your home for this to prayerful reminder of  daily meditation for vocations. The way to your home is a simply one; if you visit the church and the cup awaits you (in front of the statue of St. Theresa), please feel free to sign the book and take it into your home. Our lord will do the rest !

Elijah Cup

Elijah Cup

I have said this a number of  times however it bears repeating:

"Praying for vocations is the single most powerful way to support vocations. When we pray for vocations, we lift up to our Father those men and women who He is calling in a special way. "

We at Saint Theresa's are blessed in a special way in that our prayers have assisted three individuals in discerning their calls to the religious life. Two of them  are preparing to take their beginning vows while our "adopted seminarian" from St. John Vianney's  Seminary in Miami is completing his summer internship.

One of the concrete ways to assist our three members as well as those known only to our Lord is through the Elijah Cup. The purpose of the Elijah Cup is to provide a focal point for prayer. While we are all aware of the need for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, we sometimes forget just how powerful praying for an increase in vocations can be.

So as you enter the church, should the Elijah Cup be present, please consider taking it into your home for the purpose of communal prayer. Remember, you may take the cup into your home as many times as you wish. The key lies in welcoming of this vessel into your home.

With continued blessings for the prayer life of our community,

Deacon Charlie Webb
