I now understand why people travel to come to St Theresa. I have driven by St Timothy; I have driven by St Mark’s. Wow! They are gorgeous and huge churches. Why I thought would someone choose to come to Belleview when they can go to these magnificent churches. I think I know why. I discovered the answer when I went to Walmart. I needed deodorant and a nail clipper. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It took nearly a half hour. The store is gigantic. I searched and searched for the nail clipper. Worse yet I could not find an employee to ask and when I did they led me down the wrong path. Sure, Walmart has nearly everything but when you don’t know where you are going, and you are not ready to walk a marathon, I rather go to something simpler and easier to navigate.
St. Theresa is just that. We have a nice size church-not too big and not too small. It is easy to find assistance. Our ushers and parishioners are eager and willing to help. It is comfortable. I am sure St. Timothy and St Mark are wonderful churches. I hope that they can continue to prosper, but there is something special about St. Theresa. It is not merely the building but the people. They have a warmth and a simplicity. You immediately feel at home; so much so that it is worth the extra time to drive here. May we continue to build on that spirit. I am so blest that I can call St. Theresa my home.
Have blessed week
