"The Rosary has accompanied me in moments of joy and moments of difficulty. To it I have entrusted any number of concerns; I have always found comfort."
~ Pope John Paul II
It is my hope that you have taken the opportunity to pick up the pamphlet "How to Pray the Rosary" and are on your way to praying the Rosary each day. Let's see if we can tie all of this together. Most of us who pray the Rosary everyday offer the Rosary to God and our Lady for a special intention. You might want to look at in this way; the Rosary is an exchange of gifts between friends. "We are not just called to become holy ourselves, but to help others on the way home to God." If you wish to pray the Rosary in a group setting with your fellow parishioners, I offer you two suggestions:
A small group of parishioners gather each morning at Saint Theresa's at 8:00am and recite the Rosary prior to daily mass at 8:30am. All are welcome.
II. Pope John Paul II in 2002, wrote a letter to all the faithful regarding the Rosary. It was at this time that he introduced the Luminous Mysteries which focus on the public life of Jesus from the time between the Baptism and his death. In doing so he established paths for each of us to walk towards God in holiness. We call each of these paths or callings from God a divine vocation. The Luminous Mysteries focus on the public ministry of Christ and help us to learn how to answer God's call.
As many of you know, Holy Hour takes place each Friday from 3 PM to 4 PM. On Friday, June 9th, I will be the presider in praying the Luminous Mysteries with a focus on our fulfillment of the universal vocation to holiness. (The First Luminous Mystery) Christ told us that He is "the Way" (John 14:6) By meditating on the events of his life, we will truly learn how answer God's call.
Blessings, Deacon Charlie.
